Welcome to the Cipher Fiction Archive. We publish fanfiction and original fiction in a wide variety of categories, focusing heavily on Lord of the Rings, Smallville, and Harry Potter. We strive to maintain a high standard in our acceptance and publication of fiction. Please view our FAQ/Guidelines in our forum for specifics on site functions. The Academy is now open in our forum, but always accepts new students. Novice writers, experienced writers, or anyone that just wants to hone their writing skills is welcome to join this free writing class. There are also games, discussions, and a chatroom available in the forum, so wander over and introduce yourself.
Friday nights are the forum open house. If you're a new member, register, and visit the forum to up your post count and cross Charon's Ferry. This will make you a full-fledged forum member and give you the opportunity to ask questions, as well as meet other members of Cipher.

Due to decreased usage and real life commitments, I will no longer be maintaining Cipher or paying its hosting fees. I will keep Cipher up until October 1, 2001, when I will begin the process of deactivating the account. Once that is complete, there may not be another chance to retrieve your writing.

Sorry I have been silent for so long. I have been recovering from spinal surgery, as I'm sure the forum users are well aware. Alas, I whine abot little else. *grin*
Few notes I thought I would bring up. First is that due to the spammer situation, anonymous reviews have been turned off. Unfortunately, it was the only sure-fire way to ensure that they left the stories alone.
Also, a new Category has been added for our M*A*S*H writers. Hope it is satisfactory. Let me know if anything needs to be added to it.

| Spam Attack!! |
Some of you may have noticed odd activity on the fiction side of Cipher, but the board is currently under the invasion of spam bots again. *grumble* They are leaving random reviews in stories (according to Ali, who has been attacked, they seem to frequent the same story quite often.) Unfortunately, since they only attack randomly like this, I was only aware of it because Alisanne brought it to my attention. I am terrible sorry.
I may have unintentionally ticked off the great spam bots of the interweb by deleting faux accounts (or accounts that didn't seem legit, if I accidently grabbed a real account, I am again terribly sorry to whoever you are. Forgive me.)
Please, if you are one of the authors being targeted, let me know. I will be fixing this problem as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience. |

When discussing the world of writing, and the world of writers, the journaling communities are often the first mentioned before the archive sites reach the minds of those upon the wonderful World Wide Web. While it is true that Cipher Fiction brings first-class writing to the eyes of its members, the Forum brings together a bright and creative community, and this News page will always bring to you – our viewers – the latest in the world of Cipher, the straightforward participation and notification system of the journaling communities still holds a strong appeal. For this reason, I’d like to announce the Cipher News Asylum on InsaneJournal. The Asylum will keep an archive of posts, like these, as they are announced. | A Change of Hands |
Early last week something interesting happened in the wonderful world of Cipher, and you may have seen the announcement if you frequent the forum. However, for our users who log on for the fiction and not the babble, I thought I would share it with you here as well.
On a quiet Tuesday afternoon, I – the Great Babbler Ky – became the official new owner of this fantastic site. There were many reasons for this change, but most importantly, I should mention that it is because our darling Morrighan is about to finish her novel, and needs to dedicate her time to working on getting it published. The rest of us can then read it and say, “I chatted with her at two in the morning when she was far beyond tired,” or “She tore me a new one in validation.”
Though it may appear sudden, this was not an easy decision; it took months of private messages, emails, and even a few of the forum posts for this decision to be reached and finalized.
What changes will this bring? Well, let me assure you that Cipher will continue to be the welcoming community that it always has been for writers of both fanfiction and original fiction. Cipher is a home for many of us, both in the forum and on the fiction side, and I hope to draw the two together while continuing to maintain the quality of writing that we have always had.
In other words, I hope that you, our writers and our readers, continue to be happy on Cipher under my reign.
However, all that being said, I thought I would ask you, Cipher’s wonderful readers, to let me know if there is anything that we can do or offer you. Like always, Cipher works as a team, and I will propose any ideas suggested to the admins to see if we can accommodate your wishes. If you have suggestions please email me at ky@cipher-wotr.com or post to the Forum under the post Community Opinions. To post on the forum you will need to register, and we would love more of you to do so.
Thank you, all of you who have helped make this a site I am proud to call myself owner of. Especially, thank you Morrighan, for creating this wonderful place that we have played in and called home for all this time. I will take good care of her.
