Alright, Wench, are you my evil alter ego? Because we are just a little too similar.
I got mostly DVD's as well. I got the first two seasons of Stargate SG1 , all five Harry Potters, X-Men 1&2, V for Vendetta, Crash, and a few more that I am completely blanking on at the moment because it is far too early.
I believe the count was somewhere around 45 DVDs. My husband spoilt the hell out of me in that regard. Okay, 45 DVDs between us. Among them were L Word season 3 and 4 since I already had 1 and 2, Shrek 1,2, and 3, Stardust, Harry Potter OotP, Wolf's Rain set 1 - a ton. Gah. They really spolied me this year. I don't know what I did to deserve it all.
MerryChristmas(or whatever you celebrate) everyone!
Wow! Sorry for being such a stranger lately, things have been...well, odd.
Was sick the week or so before Christmas, which caused me to put off the 2-day drive to GA until Friday/Saturday. Then we had our big family Christmas dinner on Sunday (so my bro, SIL and nephew could be there, as they go to SIL's family's on Christmas). Turkey, dressing, potatoes, all the GOOD stuff! It was a lot of fun, my aunt and great-aunt were there as well.
Christmas Eve found me out doing all the last-minute shopping, as I procrastinated badly this year! Then off to the other side of Atlanta to my SIL's church (she's a Methodist minister) for the candlelight Christmas Eve service. It was really nice, then we all ended up going to Waffle House for a late dinner (just about the only place open!).
Christmas Day was...quiet. My entire life, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day have been BUSY, with travel, huge meals, gift-opening, etc. etc. But my last grandparent died this year so we moved back the big meal to Sunday, so my bro's family could join us, as they hadn't been able to for several years. For the first time in my whole life, opening presents in the am wasn't followed by all the preparations for a huge meal, the eating, etc. It was...weird.
So my parents, one brother and I got up around nine, opened gifts, had some breakfast, took naps, ate leftovers (yum!)...it was just a very unusual Christmas. Nice, quiet, but just so different, it almost didn't feel like Christmas, if you know what I mean.
But I got some great gifts! Lots of clothes, a new wireless router (Hallelujah! Hallelujah!) some M*A*S*H dvds, a M*A*S*H t-shirt and framed picture thing (I lurve M*A*S*H), some books, a couple of gift cards (I've already put quite a dent in one of the Starbucks cards, mmm, gingerbread lattes). A pretty good haul!
I sincerely hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas with their families and friends, got lots of great stuff, and are enjoying the holiday!
Scully, it is so good to see your post. I've missed you . I got your email, but life has been a bit hectic.
This year was different for us too. It was just me, husband and the kids. Husband cooked a great dinner, but usually we have a lot of people over. It was really quiet.
I told my husband that I missed my mom and my sisters. What I miss is the women talk when we all clean up together. It makes the job so much easier and the conversations were great. This year it is just me cleaning up the Christmas mess and the dishes.
I think it is so cool that your sis-in-law presided over the Christmas service.
Are you coming home soon? Did the kitties get into the tree?

My Scully!!!! Missed you, darling!!
Christmas this year was funny, but I swear if I heard, "Be careful so that you don't hurt your aunt!" one more time I was going to scream. My middle bro kept yelling at me for picking up my own presents, too. He would have much prefered it if I would have allowed him to hand them to me (truthfully, my back would have to, but screw that.)
Apparently, I was a good little girl, because Santa (who is named "Heart-Butt" in hour household... long story, that one is) gave me lots of goodies. Most of them in the form of making it so that I can continue to be a good little girl while looking like a slightly less good little girl. I got a really adorable t-shirt of a kitten playing with a skull, two new pairs of Doc Martins, silver thumb rings, fuzzy socks, black lacy bell-bottom jeans, and these really bizarre earrings that are a single piece of chain that goes through your ear.
I also got hooked up for the time I will be laid up. Eldest brother gave me avis of the entire farscape series, including the peacekeeper wars. Mom gave me Sudoko books and cross-word puzzles.
On the HP front, I made out like the Marauder I am. *grin* Hubby got me Moony's wand to go with Padfoot's which he got me last year for Christmas. Then - woot! - I got the Marauders' Map!! My dad also gave me something that Scully would be so jealous of. He's had it for awhile, but they are selling there house, so they are packing up and getting rid of stuff, and he decided he wanted me to have it. It is a snow globe of Hedwig that plays her theme song from the movies. It is very calming to listen to while trying to keep the cats away from it.
I also got two new Tea Party CDs, so I will have plenty of writing music when my muse returns.

THat Hedwig snow globe sounds awesome! :) I haven't started collecting the wands yet. Maybe I should. :| I'm so behind on my HP related stuff.
I have the Leaves of Lorien earrings and one of the brooches, but that's all I have from Lord of the Rings. I really want to get the Butterfly Arwen ring, and I like Galadriel's ring, too. Hubby and I talked about using LotR rings for our wedding rings. LOL He wanted Gimili's ring in silver since it had a blue stone, and I wanted Galadriel's ring. haha
We even had offers from one of the local groups to help us plan the wedding and do it LotR style, but we opted for ease and just went to the court house. lol Ah, well. Well, I'm done for now. He's calling to watch the new Resident Evil. Damn Zombie movies. lol
Well it sounds like everybody had fab holidays, I got slippers eeyore would be proud of as they are shaped like the character, a footspa(?) some new D.C's (black suade with pink and grey tartan) the latest spyro ps2 game, a book about a prostitue (based on a blog it is the diary from Autumn to summer and v. interesting) smellies, money, make-up, some black trousers with silver pinstripes, gift vouchers, choccies, socks, c.d's, perfume, tarot cards (that im still in the process of learning about. My big pressie was a bed, a big comfy double bed, it came christmas eve. I have been on a matress since I left uni 4 years ago and it was heaven sleeping in it.
